After 2 years delivering a modern cloud platform at Eurocontrol, it is time for a new adventure as an IT Architect!
My main areas of competence are:
- The capacity to define end-to-end solutions in terms of platforms, applications, databases and integration in a large variety of technologies.
- A particular affinity with the development of data architectures and integration architectures.
- A particular attention to the non-functional dimensions of IT solutions like business resilience, disaster recovery, data integrity, capacity and performance, scalability, security.
- The capacity to generalize the demand and define architectural patterns, guidelines and frameworks.
With 30 years experience as IT professional, including 22 years as an IT architect, I am recongnized for being creative and structured at the same time.
Creative because my wide IT experience has conducted me in all possible types of IT environments, from legacy mainframes to modern cloud platforms. I can grasp requirements, ask the right functional and non-functional questions, and create (or orchestrate the creation) of an end-to-end IT solution to a business problem.
Structured because I have the capacity to step back and generalize problems and solutions. I can write an Architecture blueprint and its implementation roadmap. I can develop guidelines and frameworks to ensure a consistant and repeatable quality of IT deliverables. I can ask the right questions to ensure that problems are solved with the right perspectives (understand the real need when a requirement is expressed in the form of a solution, ensure that we don’t give the right solution to the wrong problem).
A good Architect must be a good translator between business and IT stakeholders. He or she must have a wide IT experience to identify the right tools to solve a business problem. He or she must have curiosity to understand the business and the business needs, and ask the right questions to perform the right translation. I think that I have these qualities.
